Music Background:
(such as: your start, experience, education,
mentor, inspiration, interesting or humorous personal story,
accomplishments) |
I began playing the trombone in Elementary school (at
HF-L). Lindsey Borden (then Ms. Simmons) was my first music teacher. I
graduated from HF-L in 2001. Music has given me so many opportunities
including the chance to play at the Essentially Ellington jazz competition
in NYC three times! In college at SUNY Geneseo, I was able to continue
playing in the Concert Band, the Symphony Orchestra, the Jazz Band, and I
even formed a trombone quartet with some friends. My fondest memories in
college include sitting in the trombone section with these good people.

Other Bands Play(ed) With: |
In graduate school, I played with the undergraduate
concert band just for fun. I somehow found myself playing in the Albany
School of Pharmacy Jazz Band as well. When the SUNY Albany men’s
basketball team won the America East NCAA Championships, I got to watch it
all at courtside while I played in the pep-band!

What you most enjoy, or find especially
fulfilling, about being a part of Community Band:
|
I get the chance to see some old friends and continue
to play really good music with them. It keeps me in shape and helps round
out my life. |
|
Of the music we play, is there a type or piece
that is your favorite: |
Gustav Holst and Percy Grainger
are my favorite Wind Band composers.
