When I’m not at work you will find me training
(running, lifting, or skating) for my competitive figure skating
pursuits. I also spend a lot of time watching my daughter in her various
activities. Occasionally, I slow things down and enjoy a good book!

Music Background:
(such as: your start, experience, education,
mentor, inspiration, interesting or humorous personal story,
accomplishments) |
I began playing the clarinet in elementary school. I
participated in several All county and Area All State groups throughout my
elementary and high school years. I performed several solos at solo
festivals on a variety of instruments: clarinet, flute, alto sax. I also
played saxophone, and some clarinet, in our high school Jazz Ensemble.
During my undergraduate years, I played in the
Clarinet Choir and Jazz Ensemble and was frequently asked to “pinch hit”
for the Wind Ensemble and the College Community Orchestra as well as
played in the pit orchestra for the musicals. I have to say that playing
in a pit orchestra has to be my all time favorite ensemble to play in. I
was introduced to that in high school and have played in one whenever the
opportunity presented itself. It is challenging and intense.
Before moving to Honeoye Falls, I played one summer
with the Skaneateles Community Band and four summers with the Ithaca
Concert Band but I have to say that the Honeoye Falls Community Concert
Band is my favorite. Great people, great musicians, and challenging
music!

What you most enjoy, or find especially
fulfilling, about being a part of Community Band:
|
I love sitting with a group people who all enjoy
creating music. It is an incredible stress reliever and just makes me
happy! Snack time is pretty cool to! |
|
Of the music we play, is there a type or piece
that is your favorite: |
I like all music that has a discernable melody which,
in essence, eliminates most abstract pieces. I love marches, especially
on a sunny summer day but really enjoy music with haunting melodies that
move me.
