Started playing the trumpet in 5th grade
and hated it at first. Grew to love playing and the social experiences of
band after the dreadful first year or two. Loved high school pep band and
Dixieland groups. Played 4 years in the marching and concert bands at the
University of Buffalo. Great fun especially the road trips! Especially
enjoyed wind ensemble while there – learned much through that experience.
Kept up the chops from time to time with church and work experiences.

One year with Brighton Symphony Orchestra in its

What you most enjoy, or find especially
fulfilling, about being a part of Community Band: |
Learning/refining playing techniques,
camaraderie/diversity of the group, appreciation of the many talented
members, exposure to different composers/arrangers. I especially enjoy
the concerts because the whole set of music that we practice finally comes
together. |
|
Of the music we play, is there a type or piece
that is your favorite: |
I like the marches because they do the most to arouse
my soul and challenge my fingers. |
