Music Background:
(such as: your start, experience, education,
mentor, inspiration, interesting or humorous personal story,
accomplishments) |
Not nearly as impressive a background as most
everyone else in HFCCB – I played in my high school band, but gave it up
in my junior year when my family moved to a town with no band. Playing
music was not a part of my life for many years. My inspiration came from
my clarinet playing daughter, Erin – throughout her high school years I
had the privilege of attending the many wonderful all county and all state
concerts that were the result of her hard work at solo festivals. Also, I
was always most impressed by the performances of the HFL Wind Ensemble.
It made me realize how much I missed playing music and being part of a
band. I dug out the old horn and began playing around with it (after
evicting a family of spiders and un-freezing all the valves & slides) and
began to re-learn how to play.

What you most enjoy, or find especially
fulfilling, about being a part of Community Band: |
1.)
I love seeing parents & children, siblings, husbands & wives -
young, old, and in-between all enjoying and sharing a common interest.
2.)
We have a number of very gifted musicians in our ranks. I love to
listen to them play.
3.)
Especially fulfilling to me – playing the right notes at the right
time.

Of the music we play, is there a type or piece
that is your favorite: |
Particularly memorable was our performance of
Inchon. I also thought Russian Christmas Music was far more
than a piece of music – it was an experience. But nothing can quite
compare to Mouthpiece Mania. |
