Honeoye Falls Community
Concert Band
Information Sheet
(Rev.
9/3/05)
1)
The band season runs from September through July. Rehearsals are
held on Thursday nights, from 7:30 – 9:45 PM in the Honeoye Falls-Lima High
School band room.
2)
In general, HFCCB follows the HFL school schedule, and rehearsal is
cancelled if HFL schools are closed that day. On weeks when we cannot have a
Thursday rehearsal, (e.g. Thanksgiving), our policy is to hold alternate
rehearsals on Monday nights.
3)
Our official attendance policy requires that members attend at least
75% of the rehearsals for a concert plus the dress rehearsal in order to be
able to perform in a concert. This requirement may be waived at the
discretion of the director.
Band members are required to notify their
section leader and/or the personnel manager when they will be absent from a
rehearsal and must arrange to provide the section with any shared music in
their possession. The director must be notified well in advance of an
absence from a concert.
4)
Our normal concert schedule calls for 8 - 10 performances per
season: The Mendon Arts Festival in mid September, a fall concert usually
on last weekend in October, a December holiday concert, a spring concert
usually held the first weekend of April, the Festival on the Green in June
and a summer concert the last weekend in July. In addition, we try to
schedule a benefit concert some time in the May-July time frame, and we are
usually asked to play for one of the Music and Movie evenings held in
Honeoye Falls during July. Typically we accept 2 or 3 additional concert
engagements during the summer, as opportunities arise.
5)
Our September concert is held
outdoors at the Mendon Station Park. Fall, winter, and spring concerts
are performed in the Honeoye Falls-Lima District Auditorium in the HF-L
Middle School, and the summer concerts are held outdoors at Harry Allen Park
in Honeoye Falls.
6)
Concert attire for indoor concerts: Men – white shirt with tie, black
pants & shoes. Women – white shirt or blouse, black pants or skirt,
black shoes.
For outdoor concerts the attire for everyone is: white pants, shorts or
skirts, white shoes and a plum colored shirt with the HFCCB logo which must be purchased.
7)
The band is governed by a committee consisting of eleven officers;
director, chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary, treasurer, concert
manager, publicity director, librarian, personnel manager, historian, and
representative-at-large. These positions are elected annually toward the
end of each band season, and, except for the director, are all unpaid
volunteer positions.
8)
In order to reduce the number of necessary fundraising activities all
members are asked to make a donation to the band - Adult members are asked
to contribute $10 (or more) for the year, students are asked to contribute
$5.
